Preparation:

This test requires an injection into a vein (usually
in the arm) followed by some images. You will
then need to return around 3 hours later for some
more images. |

| Colonic
Transit Study |
Preparation:
Discontinue any laxatives or bowel mobility agents
3 days before the study commences.
Test Duration:
Drink—2 minutes.
Each Image—10 minutes. |
This test
requires you to drink a small amount of radioactivity
which we can then follow through the bowel over
5 days. On the Monday after the drink, you are
able to leave but will be required to return 6
hours later for the first image. Thereafter, you
will need to return each morning for more images
until Friday. |

Preparation:

Test Duration:
Injection: - 10 minutes.
Scan: 45 minutes. |

This scan involves a small injection (into the
arm) followed by some images 3 hours later during
which you will need to keep well hydrated. |

Stress Test |

Patient dependant (usually 30 minutes). |
This
is an exercise test, so wear comfortable running
clothes and shoes. |

This exam requires and injection followed by images
anywhere from 1 day later to 7 days later, depending
on the clinical indications. When you book in
the appointment we will let you know the time
frame that will be involved. |

test involves removing some of your blood, labelling
that blood so the camera can detect it, and then
reinjecting the blood into your body so we can

both the air and blood supply. |

| Lymphoscintigraphy |
Preparation:

Test Duration:
Varies from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. |
There
are a few types of Lymphoscintigraphy studies
that can be performed, the most common at our
practice, is used in order to locate the Sentinal
Lymph Node prior to surgery. This procedure involves
4 small injections around the site of interest.
The injections contain particles which travel
along the lymphatic channels and into the lymph
nodes. Images are taken of the body in order to
pinpoint the lymph nodes for your surgeon.

Preparation:

Test Duration:
Allow 3.5 hours. |
You
will need to cease all caffeine for 24 hours prior
to the test. Fasting for 4 hours before the test
is also required.
We shall perform a set of images before you do
an exercise test, and then another set of images
after the exercise test has been done. Please
wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercising. |
